Trip to Victor Harbor

Today, Akela and I (with Rufus) went to Victor Harbour. We had to leave early, but it was definitely worth it.

When we arrived, we met up with Akela’s family, who were staying there, before going to Port Elliott. In Port Elliott, we went did some window shopping and Elliott Hotel for lunch. From there, Akela, her family and I went for a walk around Port Elliott, before heading to the station to catch a steam train.

When we got to Victor, we went for a walk around the Bluff. On the walk, we found a geocache, which we logged. It was a very good view from the top of the bluff and we were thinking we would look for another cache which was close by. However, there were a few too many people around, so we will come back at another time to have a look for it.

Once we had finished the walk, it was time to head back to Akela’s parents house, for tea and a evening of laughter with the family.

Christmas Day 2015

Today, Akela and I took Rufus to Akela’s family Christmas Day activities. We went swimming and lay in the bush to dry out. It was a warm 37C (98.6F) for most of the day, so using the swimming pool was definitely the coolest place to be (apart from under the cooler maybe!)

We enjoyed the two meals we had. It is a good thing we are going to the Jamboree in the New Year, as we will need to do a lot of walking and this will help us walk off the Christmas food.

We hope everyone had a great day and that for those who are missing people who may no longer be with us in a physical sense, they will always be with us.

T20 Big Bash - Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars

This evening, Akela, took Wilbur and Rufus went to the Big Bash T20 game at Adelaide Oval. Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars.

Adelaide won the game, and Rufus really enjoyed it, despite the heat. Akela said she will take us to the next home game on the 31st of December.

Hanging out with Akela

Today, Akela took Rufus and Wilbur with her to sell raffle tickets for the Playford Christmas Pageant. They are selling tickets to raise money to cover the costs of the road closures for the Pageant. It is a volunteer committee that put it together and one of the major costs is for the road closures to ensure safety. Sitting in the air conditioning at the Shopping Centre was certainly welcome today as the temps got to 41.1C!

We think Akela was good to help out when needed and demonstrates that Scouts are helpful (one of the scout laws!)

Cubs 100 – The Wildest Birthday Ever! (Clip from Scout Association in England)

2016 will see the Cub Scout Section celebrating worldwide 100 years of Cub Scouts.

Scouting itself started in 1907, with different sections for the different age groups being added over time.

Cub Scouts as a section started in 1916, and Scouts Australia – SA Branch will be planning activities to help packs celebrate this milestone.

In the meantime, have a look at the clip produced by the Scout Association in England about the 100 years of Cub Scouts.

Mawson Lakes Scout Group Christmas Break Up

This evening was the Scout Group Break Up at the Hall. Rufus the Joey Bear has come home with Akela for the summer holidays. I am sure we will be having a great time together and gives us another person to hang out with for the summer. He has brought his diary folder as well, so Akela can write up our adventures over the holidays. We are going to have such a great time. I think he might even get to attend the Jamboree in a few weeks with us!
