T20 Charity Game - Adelaide Football Club vs Port Power Football Club

Over the summer, there were some serious bushfires happen around Australia. NSW had a number of bad ones from September 2019 through to February 2020. South Australia and Western Australia, Victoria and Qld also had fires.

The fires around tof the ACT saw the Australian Rover Moot get cut short due to the fires. Both the ACT and NSW Cuborees (State Cub Camps) were also cancelled due to the fire risk and how close the fires were to the campsites.

South Australia also had a number of fires – one of which saw a third of Kangaroo Island was burnt due to the fire that took hold. Several others occurred, including one that burnt a chunk of the Adelaide Hills in the days leading up to Christmas Day.

One of the fundraising activities that occurred was a T20 Cricket game between the two AFL teams based in Adelaide. A number of their players combined with current state cricketers and put on a T20 game. The money from the tickets was donated towards the fundraising that occurred to help support those affected by the fires.

Scouting person and I bought a ticket and went to watch the game. While the team we support didn’t win the game, the fact it was done to support those affected was the main aim and everyone who went really got into the spirit of the event
