Wonderwalls Port Adelaide 2020 - Cub Art Appreciation Tour

Today, several cubs, parents and leaders went to have a look at the latest additions in the Wonderwalls 2020  paintings. The cubs had asked for a art tour and were not keen on the art Gallery due to the nudity (they are Cubs, they found every naked piece of artwork without even trying!) So, scouting person thought it was best to look at the Wonderwalls Festival

2020, as there is little to no nudity in the painting.

While we didn’t see all the walls being painted, we saw a small selection of what there was. We also saw a bit of road that was made out of wood. Back in the 1800s, they didn’t have access to bricks to pave the roads. So, they used retired ships and cut the wood into blocks that were similar sizes to bricks and paved the roads with them instead.

When we went past Pirate Life Brewery, a couple of adults with us were surprised that it was celebrating their 5th birthday. Neither of the adults (parents) were aware that the brewery had existed. They both thought they knew all the micro-breweries in Adelaide. Think they might have plans on visiting it to explore at a later time. PLEASE NOTE, we only walked past, we didn’t take the youth members into the Brewery.

The port was sure busy. It is a long weekend and the weather is great this weekend. People were getting out and about with the activities that were happening in the Port (the Wonderwalls Festival was only one small part of the weekend’s activities in the Port this weekend) So parking had been a problem for a number of the scouting families.

We also ran into a Girl Guide group as well, who were down exploring the area while on camp (at GTS Dolphin) but they were the older section (14 to 18) so only really chatted to the leaders briefly.

Over all, I think those who attended had a great time and it was good to be able to get out and do an activity away from the hall.

Clean Up Australia Day with Lions Club of Golden Grove

Toay, 4 Cubs and 3 leaders took part in Clean Up Australia Day. We joined with the Lions Club of Golden Grove at their site as a way to boost their numbers. It is also about being seen in public and working with other community groups as well.

We were able to get the clean up done quickly and The Lions Club were grateful for the extra help to clean the area they had.
