Today Golden Grove Cubs went on a hike for JOTT (Jamboree of The Trail). It was held at Antsey Hill Recreation Park, and the group did the Yellowtail Trail. It is listed as being 6.2km long and it was certainly challenging in some parts. But also, completely worth it for the views over the city. The Cubs were certainly amazed with being able to see Tea Tree Plaza shopping center so clearly.
The weather was cool, which was
great, as it meant we (as a group) were not getting warm. There were passing
showers, and were short. It did mean most of the Cubs put their jackets on, but
we didn’t get really, really wet.
The hike allowed ALL the cubs to add km to their KM badge, and several were
able to hit milestones, such as the 50KM badge. Scouting Human is also pretty
sure that a number of the cubs will also be getting parts of their OSA progressions
passed off as well.
Over all, it was a great hike and Scouting person and I think we might head back at some stage and do the hike again on our own. Certainly worth doing again at some point.
