ANZAC Day 2014

One hundred years ago, on August 4, 1914, the world was thrown into chaos when World War 1 commenced. As with many countries, Australians and New Zealanders joined their defense forces in rapid numbers.

It was not until the 25^th of April 1915, that many came to appreciate the ability of the soldiers from these two nations, in a batter that many could say was a battle lost before it had began. For many Australians and New Zealanders, it stands out as our defining battle that created a shared history, and certainly a shared bond.

Today is ANZAC Day, a public holiday in both Australia and New Zealand. Initially, it was  a day to remember a defining battle in both countries military history. Since then, it has become a day to remember not just the original ANZACs, but all who have lost their lives. Prior to this event, relations between Australia and New Zealand had not been the best, but one that created a bond that may not be under estimated.

It is therefore vital, that we remember the people who have fought and died in all conflicts, both those in the defences forces and the civilians.

ANZAC Day 2013

Today is Anzac Day. It is a very important day in Australian and New Zealand History. Akela and I went to the Dawn service at Smithfield.

 Once we had been to Dawns Service, we headed home for breakfast before heading into Town to watch the ANZAC Day March through town.
