Sunday at Victor Harbor

Today, the Cubs were up later than Saturday. Not only did they sleep longer, they also got a extra hour sleep due to the clocks going back. So that they slept until 7am, was a really good effort.

We  were soon up, had breakfast and cleaned up, it was time to head over to Granite Island, so that we could do some Geo-caching. We found two caches while we were on the island and several of the cubs were appreciative of the finds.

Once we had were done, we headed back to the Scout Hall and started to clean up, with a break for lunch. All too soon, the parents arrived and it was time to head home.

It was a great weekend, and we had brilliant weather. I am really looking forward to the next camp we have and hope it is as great as this one was.

Hoporee 14th October 2012

Today was another early start. Well, it was for Akela and her usual inability to sleep late on camp. The upside was she didn’t have to wait in a line for the showers!

There were more activities to be done and the Joeys continued to have fun. Although there were a number who were starting to look very tired around Lunch time. But I am aware a few were asleep on the trip home. Several didn’t even make it out of the gate of Woodhouse!

Overall, it was a brilliant weekend. The Joeys and their parents had a great weekend, with a lot of smiles. It was certainly definitely worthwhile and I am sure that the next one in two years time will be just as enjoyable.

Wet set up to Shakedown Camp

This evening, Akela and I arrived at Woodhouse Scout Campsite for shakedown camp. It was certainly a wet start to the weekend. There were strong winds when we arrived, and heaps and heaps of rain as well as several bursts of hail as well.

The tents were certainly put up quickly and gear put in out of the rain. A fire was built and appreciated by all standing around it.

It wasn’t long before the sleeping tents were put up and people started going to bed to get out of the weather.
