Tree Planting with Friends of Dry Creek

today, the Cubs went tree planting with the Friends of Dry Creek. We were joined by other community groups (such as Prospect Girl Guides) as well as members of the public.

We got the plants done in record time! We just all got on with the job and were able to get it all done so quickly. And it didn’t rain (someone thought it might)

The only real problem, was it was a bit cool!

City Scramble

Today, the Cub Section of South Australia had a City Scramble – a activity that took place in town. Many of the country groups were able to do the activity through their local country town by adapting the activities.

Golden Grove Cubs met at the Golden Grove Shopping Centre, and caught a bus into the city. Once we arrived, we headed to the front of the museum and made sure we booked in. While there, we did the 1st activity and headed off to the next checkpoint.

We didn’t get to all the checkpoints, but we did quite a few (only missing two or three of them) and had a number of breaks during the day. It was also good to see so many different groups in the city doing the activities.

It did rain towards the end of the day, but it wasn’t that bad that we went home totally wet.

Overall, it was a good day, and we did manage to nail another cache while we were there (although, I don’t know if the Cubs knew what I was doing, while they were off enjoying themselves.

Pigs In Rundle Mall

This evening, after the football at Adelaide Oval, Scouting Person and I swung past and got a photo with one of the Pigs in the Mall.

Question to my readers  - Why have we had this picture taken? Is it apart of a game?

After all, I am just a black sheep and do as I am told.

Adelaide Lighthouse Geocahce and Wonderwalls

Today, we headed to Port Adelaide, but not for a Scouting activity. There was another Wonderwalls event on, and this means more walls being painted. Scouting person always finds this interesting and enjoys watching them create their art work

While at Port Adelaide, we also logged another cache while we were there. Another one off the list and we will have to make a better effort to do more about this activity

Victor Camp Golden Grove and Mt Lofty

This morning wasn’t quite the early start as yesterday. There was enough time for the Cubs to get their personal gear packed up before breakfast (if they were organised enough to do so)

After breakfast, it wasn’t long before the cubs were split. There were those who were heading into Victor to play Mini Golf and the others who were being collected early due to Comedy Capers Rehearsals. Some started to pack up tents and ensure the main areas we had been using were clean before lunch, so there was less to do after

After everyone returned and had lunch, it was time to finish packing and parents arrived to pick up their youth members.

It was a good weekend and one we enjoyed. We are sure the Cubs did as well.

Victor Camp with Mt Lofty - Day Two

 T

oday was the usual early camp start. The Cubs were excited getting their bikes ready for the bike ride to Port Elliott. The leaders from Mt Lofty were great at checking the bikes were all up to standard before setting off on the trip to Port Elliott. The Cubs rode their bikes, were on scooters or walked (3 in the later). Upon arrival at Pt Elliott, time spent exploring, having lunch and enjoying the beach.

After several hours at the beach, it was time to make the trek back to Victor Harbor Scout Hall. Many took the same travel options to get back as they did for the trip to Pt Elliott.

Once back at Victor, it was time to relax prior to  tea and a movie before bed. It didn’t take the Cubs as long to get to sleep this evening as it did last evening

Victor Camp - Friday Night

Scouting Person and I (along with Chil and several Cubs) headed to Victor Harbour for a combined Cub Camp at the Victor Scout Hall. It was a joint camp between Golden Grove and Mt Lofty – Tuesday Night Unit.  It was beautiful night for a night walk after we had set up the campsite.

It’s been a couple of years since we were here last, with Mawson Lakes Cubs. But this weekend is going to be just as good and we are sure the Cubs will have a great weekend while they are here.
