JOTA Sleep over with Flinders Park comes to a end

This morning was a little early, but a slow start. Certainly, wasn’t a rush to get up to be anywhere.

The cubs started packing their gear as soon as they were getting out of their sleeping bags and getting ready for breakfast – choice of cereal or camp muffins – with egg and bacon.

We sorted gear, packed and cleaned up after breakfast. Once this was completed, we headed to a local park, for a relaxed play and chat. While there, we had morning tea, before heading back to the Hall for pick up by the parents.

Everyone had a great time, and we are sure there will be plenty of sleepy Cubs on the way home today.

JOTA Hike and Sleep Over with Flinders Park Scout Group

This morning was an early start, as Scouting person and I went food shopping for a 24-hour sleep over. It was a joint sleepover between Golden Grove and Flinders Park Cub Units.

We met at the Flinders Park Scout Hall, and left our gear there. In our case, that included all the food as well. As soon as everyone was there and accounted for, it was time to start the walk to Fulham Scout Hall, for the JOTA / JOTI activity. We were slightly late in starting out, which meant we had to set a bit of a pace to get there in time. We have a couple of toilet stops along the way – and an attempt by the Cubs to bring a cat along with us. Eventually, the cat was left behind after one of the adults pointed out that it was neither feral, or a stray and was in fact a well looked after pet cat, that had probably jumped the back fence to have a explore.

When we got to Fulham Scout Hall, we quicky booked in and split into groups to do the activities. These included

1) chatting on line to Scouts around the World,

 2) Fox Hunting (a electronic game)

3) Smashing old electronics

 4) making things

Overall, I think the Cubs enjoyed it as we were there way longer than the 2 hours we were supposed to be!

We eventually managed to round up the Cubs and we left, heading back to Flinders Park Scout Hall. The trip back was a slower and more relaxed than the trip to Fulham Scout Hall.

When we returned to Flinders Park Scut Hall, there was time to relax briefly before we started setting up for tea. The Cubs were glad to have tea and a chance to relax after the walk. They also enjoyed the movie after tea. It wasn’t long before they were sleeping.
