Recently, I went (with Akela and several members of Mawson Lakes Scout Group) to see Comedy Capers Gang Show.

People reading might be interested to hear of other Gang Shows that are around that they can see. One that is happening soon is the . Kirrawee Gang Show

Kirrawee Gang Show is located in Southern Sydney and put on by South Metropolitan Scouts and Guides in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

As with any scout and guide production, it is a family friend show and supporting many local youth in their pursuits.

JOTT

Today, we went on a hike for Jamboree of the Trail (www.jott.org) . The place we went to was Cobblers Creek in Adelaide. Many people find it hard to believe that we have such places to walk hidden within suburban Adelaide, but the place has some really nice views of the surrounds.
We certainly had good weather and everyone had a great time. A few complaints about going up the hill, but NONE about the downhill trip what so ever!
Certainly a pleasant way to spend a few hours on a fine sunny day in Adelaide (For those who haven’t read my earlier posts this week, we are experiencing some warmer than normal may weather. It’s not normally this warm at this time of year to be able to wear t-shirts, shorts and not have to worry about taking a jumper! But these things happen and the rain is bound to fall when it arrives later tonight)

SA Car Rally

While not related to me or my activities, Akela and I are sharing this link to show the diversity of Scouting in South Australia. Many people have the view that scouting is about camping and knotting. Yet, it can be so much more than that. Have a read of the article and see what you think.

JOTT

This is the badge that we will be getting for doing a hike on the weekend. Akela and I are really looking forward to the hike and we think the badge looks pretty cool as well.

Ridley Cub Leadership Course and sending Micky on his way

Today the cubs were a little slower getting up. While still up early, it was not quite the same enthusiasm as yesterday. Just a pity it was an early start again!

After packing away their gear into bags and eating breakfast, it was straight into the final sessions. These were around Knotting, Compass work and First Aid as well as what is a Pack Council.

It was soon over with parents arriving to collect their cubs at 12 to head home.

It was also a final chance to say farewell to Micky on the way home, as Akela packaged him up into his envelope and posted him to his first host in Far North Queensland, Australia. Definitely sad to see him leave us, but I am sure that he is going to have a great time and we will be kept posted about his many activities and adventures.

Ridley District Cub Leadership Course - Saturday

Today was an early start and definitely a cool day. In fact, there was fog when we got up this morning. It was certainly a cool day. But thankfully most of our activities were either inside or when outside did keep us warm.

Some of the day’s activities included what is a Sixer and Second, what makes a good Sixer and Second, attending to the flag, care of uniform, tent pitching, working together activities and campfire preparation.

Micky spent most of the day with a cub from Edinburgh Park who took him around to all the activities with her. It is going to be sad to see him go, but I also know he is going to have an awesome time while he is travelling and I am sure he will keep us all posted about his adventures.

After much activity, it was time for the evening campfire and some challenges that Akela thought up. She even challenged the cubs to be quiet for two minutes and the cubs didn’t make a sound for almost three!

All to soon it was time for bed and getting into the sleeping bags was greatly appreciated.

Ridley District Cub Leadership Course 2013 - arrival

Well, tonight, I went to the 2013 Leadership Course with Akela. It is being run from Balhannah Scout Hall. We have been here before for a District Cub Camp two years ago. I am sure it will be a great weekend. The weather looks like it will hold and I am sure the Cubs will gain a lot from the course.

Well, must be off to bed as we’re going to really need to get some sleep tonight before a full on day tomorrow.

Packing

We are packing for camp as we are heading away for the weekend. I will fill everyone in when I get back where we have gone...We thought a element of surprise on this one would be a good thing for a change. Hope you all agree.

What we can say for certain is that Micky Mawson will be heading off for his adventures on Sunday or Monday and we know that he will have a lot of fun while is visiting scout groups over seas. He is going to Far North Queensland before heading off to Canada, followed by South Africa. Micky is attend Cub Leadership Course before he leaves, which we hope will be beneficial to him for his adventures.

Below is a picture of him with his USB around his neck, so that he can keep track of his travels via a digital diary.
