Start of AJ2013

What a fun two days. A really early start was the order of the day on the 1st (in fact, Akela didn’t get ANY sleep) as she was busy on the 31st. She went shopping for some last minute stuff for the Jamboree. It certainly was a early start and people weren’t looking the best as they got on the bus at 3am.

But we got to the airport on time and certainly made sure we got the flight alright. Akela’s cousin’s husband was loading the luggage onto the plane (he works there) and it was certainly getting very real and very exciting.

We arrived in Melbourne ok and sat around for 2 hours before we were able to get onto our connecting flight. We had no sooner taxied out of the bay and had the safty talk, then we had to pull into another bay as there was a problem with the engine. So we had to sit on the plane for half hour before flying north. Akela slept the entire way to Qld. So was really no fun to talk to at all!

Upon our arrival, it was time for ANOTHER bus trip. A bit longer than the early morning one this time but our destination was the Marybourgh Showgrounds. Our home for the next 2 weeks. It was certainly with mounting excitement that we arrived on site!

We spent a few hours getting the basics set up, such as the sleeping tents and the dining area laid out. It wasn’t long before it was dark and time spent chatting with the troops around us. However, a early night was had by the majority.

The next day, it was a leisurely day to finish setting up the campsite and organising where exactly everything should be. Certainly was good to be there and have the chance to do so. One patrol did the right thing and went over to cook for a South Australian troop who arrived on site in the afternoon. The opening was fast approaching and the activities started the next day. I am sure the troop who gained the use of our patrol appreciated it!

Certainly looking forward to the activities and what will be happening over the next few days.
